SimplyMove – Switching Banks Made Simple
It's easier than ever to switch your accounts from your old bank to TD Banknorth with SimplyMove.
Once you've opened your new account with us, we can help you clean up all those loose ends. We'll provide you with all of the letters and forms you need in order to transfer your accounts and funds.
Getting started
To get started, you should have the following information handy:
- Your new account numbers. If you need to open new accounts, you can do it online, visit one of our local branches, or call customer eCare.
- The name and address of the bank(s) where your other account(s) are held
- Your account number(s) with the other bank(s)
- The balance in your account(s) with the other bank(s)
- Name (as it appears on your accounts with the other bank(s))
- If you are the primary account holder, you will need the name, Social Security number and mailing address of any secondary owner on the account(s)
- If you are the secondary account holder, you will need the name, Social Security number and mailing address of the primary account owner on the account(s)
- Other account titles
- Your legal address of residence.
When you have all of the above information gathered, you are ready to get started.
Important forms
Here are the forms you will need to download, print, complete and sign, depending on the activity you set up with each of your other bank account(s), and the activity you would like to set up with your new account(s):
- Payroll Direct Deposit Request (17k PDF): This is a letter that instructs your payroll department to deposit your paychecks directly into your new account (or switch the direct deposit from your former bank's account).
- Automatic Payment Form (402k PDF): With this form you can have bills automatically paid from your new account (or switch payment from your former bank's account).
- Account Closing Letter (404k PDF): This is a letter that you will give to your former bank authorizing them to close out your account(s) and instructing them on what you want done with the remaining funds.
