Why should I register my TD Banknorth Visa^® Gift Card?

You should register your gift card so that TD Banknorth will have your card number on record. In the event the card is stolen, we may be able to cancel the card quickly. Also, if you wish to dispute a transaction, having the card number on record may increase your chances of recovering disputed transactions. You, or the person to whom you give the card, must register it by logging on to http://GiftCard.TDBanknorth.com.

Where can I use my TD Banknorth Visa Gift Card?

Your card can be used for purchases anywhere that Visa debit cards are accepted.

Can the TD Banknorth Visa Gift Card be used at more than one merchant?

Yes, absolutely! It's one of the advantages over gift cards that must be used at one location, like a retail store gift card.

Does the TD Banknorth Visa Gift Card work at gas stations?

Yes, the card works at gas stations but does not work at the pump. To use the card, simply see the gas attendant to complete the purchase.

Can my TD Banknorth Visa Gift Card be used for online purchases?

Yes, as long as you have registered your card.

Is there a monthly administration fee?

Yes, but it will be waived for the first 12 months. If you have a balance on the card after 12 months, a fee of $2.50 per month will be deducted from your card balance.

What happens when the money is gone?

The TD Banknorth Visa Gift Card will no longer work. It can be destroyed.

Can money be added to the TD Banknorth Visa Gift Card?

No, the card is non-reloadable. Once the dollar value is used, the card has no value and should be destroyed.

Does the TD Banknorth Visa Gift Card expire?

No. Cards have a three-year "good thru" date which is embossed on the front of the card. If the card passes the "good thru" date, and a balance remains on the card, customers can go into a TD Banknorth branch to obtain a new card.

What if the merchandise or service costs more than the value of my TD Banknorth Visa Gift Card?

If you wish to make a purchase greater than your card balance, you can use a second payment method – debit or credit card, cash or check – to cover the difference. Simply tell the cashier in advance how much to deduct from your card and how much you'll pay with the second method.

What if there is a dispute over a purchase made with the TD Banknorth Visa Gift Card?

The TD Banknorth Visa Gift Card holder should contact the merchant directly to settle the transaction in question.

What if there is an error on a transaction made with my TD Banknorth Visa Gift Card?

If there is an error involving a transaction made with your TD Banknorth Visa Gift Card or a purchase that was not authorized, you should contact your TD Banknorth branch or TD Banknorth Card Services at 800-884-4593.

Can I use my TD Banknorth gift card to get cash?

Yes. You'll need to visit a TD Banknorth branch to request a check for the value remaining on the card. A fee will apply – please refer to the Cardholder Terms and Conditions.

What should I do if my card is lost or stolen?

Your gift card is the same as cash and it is like losing cash if it is lost or stolen. The best way to keep your possible losses down is to call us at 800-884-4593 immediately. For a stolen card that has been previously registered, a replacement card may be issued for the value remaining on the card at the time it is reported stolen.

Why are my online or telephone purchases declined when I know there are sufficient funds on the gift card to make the purchase?

Online and telephone purchases require that the "billing address" for your purchase match the address on file for your gift card. If your card does not have your name on it, then you need to register your card before making an online or catalog purchase.

If your gift card is embossed with your name, then it is possible that the address on your card is different than your current address. You can log in to our gift card information area to register or confirm your address online.

It's important to register your card because internet, mail and telephone order purchases are subject to the merchant's security policy governing the acceptance of bank cards.

This means that many merchants won't complete an internet, mail or telephone transaction if the data provided by the purchaser does not match with the information that the Bank has on file about the cardholder.
Unless you register your card in advance, there will be no way an internet, mail or telephone order merchant can confirm your identity. Without such confirmation, the merchant might decline your purchase even if there are sufficient funds on the card.
